Expressive Landscape Photography
Have you ever been at a scenic location and found yourself struggling with how to capture the essence of the scene in an expressive and artistic way. In our program we must first discuss some keys for exposing landscape images drawing distinctions with exposing for portraiture. This is based on an altered "Exposing to the Right (ETTR)" approach with a very important element regarding the Red Channel which is vital for fall landscapes.
And of course, post processing has a vital role in landscape imagery. We will start by demonstrating and explaining RAW Conversion for images photographed using the ETTR approach. From here, we then move in a targeted manner demonstrating specific techniques to achieve specific results. Some of these specific techniques include: Whites Adjustment, Auto HDR (used to lightly brush in specific effects to localized areas), and achieving glow/direction of light - among other techniques.
We will wrap up with a discussion on print competition. This will focus on how one would approach comp in IPC (and MIR) versus other higher level International Landscape Print Competitions. Images that will do well in international competitions often will not (unfortunately) do well at all in IPC/MIR and we will show you why this is the case. And BTW, images that do well in international landscape competitions will appeal to buyers better than landscapes that do well in IPC/MIR.
We can also talk on selling landscape images sharing some truly fascinating information here that is applicable to all selling endeavors time permitting.

AI for Photographers: The Good, The Bad & The Useful
“Using AI to Market Smarter, Communicate Better, and Run a More Efficient Photography Business”
AI is changing the way photographers’ market, communicate, plan, and run their businesses. But between the hype, fear, and rapidly changing technology, it can be difficult to know what's actually useful.
In this program, we'll explore the major AI platforms photographers are using today, discuss the strengths and limitations of AI, examine real-world examples where AI got things spectacularly wrong, and discover practical ways AI can help with marketing, client communication, SEO, GEO, workflow development, business continuity, and business planning.
This presentation focuses on real business applications photographers can use immediately—not AI image generation, photo editing, or replacing photographers.
Attendees will leave with a realistic understanding of AI, practical workflows they can implement right away, and a roadmap for using AI responsibly in their photography business.
